Podczas Critical Legal Conference w 2023 i 2024 r. Mikołaj pełnił też funkcję organizatora i przewodniczącego panelu (stream convenor). Ponadto, 10 marca 2022 r. na Uczelni Łazarskiego w Warszawie, na zaproszenie tamtejszego Koła Naukowego Praw Człowieka, Mikołaj wygłosił gościnny wykład/prelekcję pt. Prawa i obowiązki ucznia.

Od października 2022 r. Mikołaj jest członkiem Międzynarodowego Stowarzyszenia Prawa Publicznego (International Society of Public Law; ICON-S). Od stycznia 2024 r. pomaga też jako jako jeden z redaktorów serii What’s New in Public Law publikowanej cotygodniowo w „ICONnect Blog” – internetowym blogu afiliowanym przy „International Journal of Constitutional Law”.

Od kwietnia 2023 r. do stycznia 2024 r. był stypendystą w projekcie finansowanym przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki pn. Zaskarżalność orzeczeń sądów administracyjnych (kierownik projektu: prof. dr hab. Wojciech Piątek, UAM). Od zakończenia umowy stypendialnej Mikołaj współpracował z zespołem badawczym prof. Piątka na zasadzie wolontariatu.

Od maja 2025 r. stypendysta w projekcie finansowanym przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki pn. Konstytucyjny Zugzwang: W kierunku teorii zmiany momentum konstytucyjnego (kierownik projektu: dr hab. Mauro Arturo Rivera Leon, UŚ w Katowicach).
